NBA Free Pick

It's truly LeBron against the world in the 2018 NBA Finals.

Suddenly, our NBA free picks are back from the dead and only one game under .500.  At 28-29, we here at Lazybets are looking to finish our NBA free picks and parlays strong.  Our free picks aim for a winning record in every category.  Overall as a site, we’ve done more than provide that.  The NBA has proven a tougher road this year while other free picks (MLB free picks for instance) have crushed for our readers.

It’s beginning to get a bit funny now.  I really don’t even know why we play the NBA season anymore.  I can’t believe I’m about to line about another round of free NBA picks around Warriors Cavaliers.  I should feel blessed.  I’m watching some of the greatest players face off in a “rivalry” for the forth time in a row, but there’s a feeling of emptiness around this series and it’s tough to deny.

That’s largely because the Rockets and Warriors were the finals for the NBA.  The Western Conference Finals Game 7 Matchup rated as the second highest watched NBA game ever on cable television.  The 2016 Western Conference Finals Game 7 Matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Warriors was the only more highly rated cable contest.

When the Warriors unseated Chris Paul, James Harden, and the Rockets, the public essentially crowned them as 2018 champions.  Vegas followed suit.

The Warriors outman the Cavaliers in this one.  The Warriors are -1000 to win it all and heavy bets are already coming in to back them.

It’s sad really.  This is LeBron James in the finals, and yet it doesn’t really matter to anyone.  It shouldn’t.  This series will likely be over in less than 5 games.  LeBron’s greatness may keep it from a sweep, but we can’t see it doing much more than that.

It’s for that reason that we’re watching LeBron’s last few games as a Cav.  It’s no accident that so many teams stayed flexible with their payrolls this offseason.  With major players set to hit the market, we just need to wrap things up here before the NBA shifts the weight of stardom towards another team this offseason.  This series may be all about one team, but this offseason is all about one man.

Let’s get into finding an edge in game 1.

Cavaliers Warriors Free Pick

Two Superstars in Kevin Durant and LeBron James matchup in the painted area.

It’s a surprise to see these two in this series.  After Game 5 in Houston, it seemed like the Rockets had a good hold of the series against the Warriors.  A Chris Paul hamstring and an epic three-point drought later, the Warriors are back to a place with a dance partner who’s all too familiar.

LeBron and the Cavaliers were a bit of a wild card to get here too.  They barely got out of the first round and after their yearly dismantling of Drake’s Raptors, they really struggled against an undermanned Celtics team.

The struggles of Cleveland weren’t LeBron’s.  He’s been incredible in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs It wasn’t any fault of the Cavaliers.  They’ve been faced with injuries, coach anxiety, and everything else you can imagine.  They’re still here.

Though the two both seemed unlikely, one’s path was clearly more respected than the other.  The Warriors are overwhelming 12.5 point favorites in this one.

The public seems to think one of two ways in this one.  They like the moneyline value on the Cavs at nearly 6.5 to 1 at +635.  They also like the respect of the points and are laying the Warriors to cover the spread.

The total in this game is interesting to us.  We’ve been hot on totals going 6-1 in our last 7 free picks during the playoffs.  This game opened at 214.5 and is all the way up to 217.5 near tipoff.  It’s one of the reasons we waited so long to drop the article.  59% of bettors are on the over.

From a trends perspective and good analysis from, the Under is 4-0 in the Cavaliers last 4 road games.  The under is 5-0 in the Warriors last 5 overall.  The Under is 8-2-2 in the last 12 meetings between these two in Golden State.

Can you see where we’re going with this?

Kevin Love is back tonight, but the Cavaliers have struggled to break 100 points nearly all offseason.  The Warriors will score a lot in this game.  The Cavs will leave a lot to be desired.  217.5 is a lot to cover for these two.
