NBA Free Picks – 3/28/18

Los Angeles Clippers -10.5 @ Phoenix Suns

The Clippers are coming off an emotional win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night, their second in just a week. The win saw them rally from a late fourth quarter deficit to win 105-98 and cover the -3. The cover was their fourth in the last ten games. The victory kept the Clippers bleak playoff hopes alive. The race for the final spot in the Western Conference is an incredibly tight one. The Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, and Pelicans are all separated by less than 2.5 games. The Clippers are 23-14-1 against the spread on the road this year. We think they will tally their 24th cover here despite last nights game being part of a back to back. The flight to Phoenix is less than an hour from Los Angeles, and besides, the Clippers are playing their best basketball of the year. DeAndre Jordan, Thobias Harris, and Lou Williams will know this win is crucial for a playoff spot. The Suns have nothing to play for other than lottery position. Phoenix is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games and 13-23-1 ATS on the year.

Pick: Take the Clippers and lay the 10.5.

Philadelphia 76ers -13 vs. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks have been a dumpster fire towards the end of the season, but they’ve somehow gotten it together in their last three games. They put down John Wall and the Washington Wizards in a game where they were a 10.5 point dog. They then lost a game in Minnesota against a very good Timberwolves squad by a score line of 101-97. The team is trending in the right direction with a 7-3 record ATS in their last ten games. The Philadelphia 76ers have been red hot against the spread too. Their 7-3 record comes with sizeable wins over the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves by double digits. They are also a very strong 24-12 against the spread at home representing a 66% win probability tonight. This is a toss up. One team has been crusing top competition. The other has finally grabbed some momentum and is keeping games close. I like the points here. We think the Knicks will keep it within 10 points. They only lost by 8 the last time the two teams played. New York was in much worse form then.

Pick: Take the Knicks and grab -13 at a discount of (-105) juice like we did at Bovada.

Los Angeles Lakers -8.5 vs. Dallas Mavericks

The Lakers are an abysmal 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games. They do have a home record of 18-16 against the spread which should come into play here against a very bad Dallas Mavericks basketball team. It’s likely that Mark Cuban will be in attendance for tonight’s game in Los Angeles, but it should have little impact on the overall performance of the Mavs, who have been in the tank for the better part of the second half. The Lakers played the Mavericks a little over a month ago. In that match-up, the Lakers rolled to an easy 124-102 victory in front of their home fans. With the end of the season drawing near, we don’t see any reason for that trend to change. The Mavericks are getting ready to golf. The Lakers are building on momentum and trying to show LeBron James that they are worthy of being his caretaker.

Pick: The Lakers have to be the selection here -8.5
