There’s money to be made on all of this.
Week 1 Early Games - NFL Predictions - NFL Picks and Parlays
The Lions travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals this week. A lot of people are calling the Lions as a sleeper team. As a former Lions fan, I know better than to get my hopes up. Now I’m just a fan of making money. Kyler Murray may be just that for the Cardinals.
The recipe for an air raid with legs is there. Murray can throw the ball. The combination of passing game mad scientist Kliff Kingsbury and some dynamic Cardinals weapons like David Johnson, Michael Crabtree, and Larry Fitzgerald could be pontent. That said, the Cardinals are still relying on a rookie to revive a team that ranked 32nd of 32 in points scored last year. Kyler Murray has some unfair and lofty expectations.
The Lions should be improved on defense. It’s what coach Matt Patricia is known for. The Lions ranked 15th overall in defense last year. They should be in the top 10 this year. The offensive game could be a different story. The Lions continue to transition out of the pass heavy Matt Stafford to Calvin Johnson era. The Lions are much more run centric under Patricia who uses heavy game management theory.
Lions Cardinals Trends
The total has gone under in 7 of Detroit’s last 7 games. The Lions are 3-7 straight up in their last 10 games. The Lions are 3-6 in their last 9 games against the Cardinals and 2-7 in their last 9 against Arizona. The Under has hit in 6 of Detroit’s last 6 games against NFC opponents. The Lions struggle in September. They are 1-4 straight up in their last 5 September games. They’ve always been a suspect early season team. These are Lions Cardinals trends we like.
Lions Cardinals Prediction
A new coaching staff and quarterback change the look of things in Arizona. We think the dome will be rocking. The Arizona defense should be serviceable against a suspect Lions offense. Kyler Murray produces some decent drives and does just enough to win his first rookie game. The kid has only lost one football game in his life. Now that’s a trend to pay attention to. Get a piece of him while he’s still an underdog. It won't be for long.
The story in Texas is the Cowboys. The Longhorns lost last night. That makes America’s team the only ticket in town. Hopes and dreams are with Jerry and his giant scoreboard for the time being. Zeke Elliott returns for the Cowboys after a long offseason holdout. Jerry Jones buckled to Zeke’s demands after a few months of abuse in the media. It seems like Elliott can’t get away from abusing things and getting away with it. While a dynamic player, I’m not much of a fan of his.
The Cowboys will be relying on Elliott and Quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott loves his mom and equals out the Karma in this backfield. Thank gosh. If I had to pan between Jerry Jones and his botox and Eliott with his stupid smile, I’d probably lose it.
I’m way off topic. Back to betting. The Cowboys are giant favorites in this one. -7 is a lot in a rivalry game. The Cowboys return with a top 10 defense. Under 44.5 is looking like a strong play with a suspect Giants offense that now shockingly lacks Oddell Beckham Jr.
Saquon Barkley is a great runner. Will he still be with 10 men in the box? Eli Manning is on his last legs. The Giants lack any real threat at receiver. 7 may not be enough here to keep us off of the team from the lone star state.
Giants Cowboys Trends
The Giants are 1-4 straight up in their last 5 games. The Giants are 6-14 straight up in their last 20 games. The Cowboys are 5-0 straight up in their last 5 home games. Dallas is 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games. The under has hit 4 of the last 5 games the Cowboys have played in September. Dallas are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 against NFC east opponents. These are Giants Cowboys trends that we like.
Giants Cowboys Prediction
The Cowboys should cover this spread. It’s not going to be by much. This will also be a low scoring game. Take the Cowboys -7. The Under 44.5 is one of our favorite bets of the day. Consider parlaying both of these or all four. Both of these games take place during the second set of kickoffs.
