Welcome back to LazyBets soccer picks and parlays. The Premier League season is entering the final stages. The fixture schedule for this weekend is light. Four of the league’s teams are participating in Champions League action. A whole host of other squads have cup action to focus on. There are only five official Premier League fixtures on Saturday and Sunday. One of the most intriguing is Burnley hosting Leicester City at Turf Moor.
Michael Olivier keeps the order in this one as Burnley continue their fight against the relegation zone with today’s match against 10th placed Leicester City in Lancashire. It’s been a tough spell for Burnley. They’ve notched just one victory in the last four fixtures despite being competitive.
The Clarets’ success has been limited but they have put up a decent fight at the Turf Moor. Their last three fixtures there have resulted in two wins and a draw. They came out on top against both Fulham and Tottenham. They drew at one apiece with Southampton. These results have been vital to the team’s hopes for survival. They are just two points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Burnley have won their last two home fixtures against Leicester City. They have never won three in a row against the same team at the Turf Moor in their history. It’s a trend worth noting heading into this one.
Scoring has been ample for Burnley. Ashley Barnes has been in great form scoring in his last three home matches.
The club from Lancashire has left something to be desired on the defensive end. They’ve averaged three goals against in their last three fixtures. This stat can be a bit deceiving. Two of these fixtures were on the road. One of them came against Liverpool where Burnley put up a very good fight only to falter 4-2 on some crucial errors.
Leicester City Analysis
Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers is familiar with both Liverpool and Burnley. He has won four of his last five league matches against the side from Lancashire. He has defeated them with three different clubs. Watford, Swansea City, and Liverpool have all seen victory under Rodgers against Burnley. He looks to add Leicester City to that statistic and make it four.
Jamie Vardy has been on fire. He has five goals in his last five competitions and is rounding into the form we’re used to. That total is more than he had in his previous 16 games.
While Leicester currently sit safely at mid-table, they have struggled in recent road fixtures. Losses to Watford, Tottenham, Wolves, and Newport County are hard to ignore. A draw against Liverpool in late January is their only recent positive result. That can be troubling when you consider the opponent in this one and how much they need a result.
It’s been 10 games since Leicester kept a clean sheet. If you’re looking at over under lines it’s something worth paying attention to.
There's a lot to look for when it comes to Burnley vs. Leicester City Predictions. At the end of the day neither team is playing all that well. This has the look of a cagey sparring match. We expect it to be difficult for either team to gain serious traction.
Burnley came out defensively against Liverpool. They really only have Cardiff City to worry about on the table This is a great chance for them to gain another point on Cardiff. A draw will be good enough to likely put them three points ahead of The Bluebirds. Their next two matches feature Manchester City and Chelsea where results will be difficult. The two then face off on April 13th.
Leicester has very little to play for other than pride at this point. When you put that up against desperation, you like the odds of a result for Burnley.
Take the draw 1-1 in this one. A Burnley win wouldn’t surprise us, but the difference in player quality has us circling a stalemate in this one. The Clarets would take that graciously and consider it a win which makes it all the more likely.
