Welcome back to LazyBets Soccer Picks and Parlays for September 1, 2018. Rent is due today, so don’t forget everyone! It’s also the first day of the college football season. With most of our focus on the kickoff, it’s important to remember that the Premier League season just kicked off. Our Premier League picks and parlays continues this week and hopes to improve on a 1-3 record in the first two weeks.
After an almost untarnished World Cup, we’ve been left frustrated the last few days with our picks and parlays. Saturday’s fixtures offer two opportunities for wagers, so let’s jump right into it with our lock pick in the early morning with Leicester and Liverpool We also offer a bonus lean pick between Wolves and West Ham.
Liverpool have looked unstoppable in the first few weeks of the season, and it’s not the LFC that we’re used to. Gone seem the days of 2017 where the team for Merseyside seemed to give up leads with regularity. Liverpool have now gone 3 games without a goal against. It’s looking like new man Allison was a very tidy bit of business in the summer and has many LFC supporters wondering what could have been if he had been available in the Champions League.
A juggernaut offensively, Liverpool were only able to score two goals vs. Crystal Palace. Despite difficulties finishing and some great goalkeeping from Crystal Palace, the result was never in doubt. The team cruised throughout the 90 minutes and looked the class of champions on the road in London.
LFC now venture out to Leicester City where the Foxes have experienced a successful 6 points out of 9 in their first two fixtures.
While Leicester have experienced a successful start, it hasn’t been easy. The Foxes barely pulled out a win against Southampton with a 92’ goal. It won’t be any easier against the Reds as Leicester will be without Jamie Vardy who is serving the second game of a three game suspension. He made an idiotic high tackle served him red against Wolves.
Leicester City will rely on Kelechi Iheanacho who you might remember from Manchester City. He will be given another opportunity to impress after playing well against Southampton last week.
While we expect Leicester City to come out in a defensive shape, we don’t think it will matter much. Liverpool were unlucky to not put one across earlier against Crystal Palace. Liverpool should score early in this one and that will change the balance of play for the rest of 90 minutes.
Leicester have scored in all four of their fixtures to date this year, including a warm up win against Fleetwood this week that saw the Foxes gain confidence with a 4-0 score line.
Liverpool have been in fine goalscoring form themselves up to their last two contests. Deemed somewhat unstoppable, Brighton and Crystal Palace somewhat managed to quell the Reds attack holding them to three goals in two weeks. For those who watched those games, you know that Liverpool were just ticks from breaking each fixture open. That really impacts our opinion on this one.
Wolves and West Ham take the pitch against one another in our lean pick of Saturday’s fixtures. Wolves are coming off of a massive draw against Man City that announces their presence to the league. West Ham are in complete disarray and are currently bottom of the table.
That spells out an equation where we can see both teams going for this. Wolves will think they have a chance to beat West Ham when they are very much down and will throw more men forward as is the traditional style of Nuno Espirito Santo. They will be looking for goals.
Manuel Pelligrini can’t save his job with a draw and has been coming under fire for not signing the likes of Yaya Toure. He will be throwing men forward too.
These defenses will break down and this looks over to us, but it’s a lean.
