Welcome back to our Premier League picks and parlays for Saturday, September 15th, 2018. With a few weeks off to research, we’re excited to get back in to the Premier League fixture list and this weekend has a tasty set of games to choose from. From of the biggest games on the board is Liverpool traveling to Wembley Stadium to take on Spurs in their makeshift home field. Let’s dive right into the pick.
Premier League Pick of the Day:
Liverpool @ Tottenham
3 Way Line:
Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur face off in the early kick of tomorrow’s fixtures. As you may know, Tottenham were supposed to be playing this match in their brand-new home ground. Instead, they kick off again at Wembley as the delay on a new stadium continues. The change in venue means more seats and more opportunities for Liverpool supporters. This essentially becomes a neutral ground for this big of a contest.
Liverpool enter this fixture top of the Premier League after securing twelve points out of the 4 games they’ve played this season. Having only given up 1 goal, it’s safe to say that Liverpool’s competition will be a step up in this one. Leicester City, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and West Ham are nowhere near the top 4 discussion or the class of Tottenham. This will be the red’s first real test of the season.
Since the beginning of the 2017 campaign, Manchester City are the only club to score or shoot more than these two teams. Offense will be on display during what could be a classic contest.
Spurs are coming off a very disappointing and unexpected loss. The team belmished their unbested record by falling to Watford before the week-long international break. Spurs will be hoping to recapture the form they had a week prior to Watford’s anomaly. They were able to win their previous fixture 3-0 over Manchester United.
Spurs will be without two key players this weekend. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was sentenced for drunken driving and has already been ruled out of the next few contests with a thigh injury. Center attacking midfielder Delli Alli has a hamstring problem and won’t be available in the midfield. Holding midfielder Moussa Sissoko also will be missing for Hotspur with his own hamstring issues.
Adam Lallana is expected to miss this one for Liverpool. The rest of the Red's squad remains in tact.
From a trend perspective, Tottenham have won just one of their last 11 fixtures against Liverpool. They’ve drawn four and lost 6. Liverpool have scored in all but one of their last twelve fixtures against Spurs.
Since the beginning of the 2014-2015 season, only Arsenal have won fewer points in Premier League matches against the “big six” than Tottenham.
Free Liverpool Tottenham Pick(s)
Tottenham will think themselves a likely winner of this game, but it will be in this philosophy that they meet their downfall. Spurs will attack Liverpool often because they think Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are better offensive players than those Liverpool has to offer. Spurs will be found wanting on the backend when they are gashed by a healthy counter attack.
Liverpool struggle from time to time, but it’s not against teams like Tottenham. The top 6 seems willing to do exactly what Liverpool wants out of ego. If Tottenham were to go 11 behind the ball in this match, we might fancy them. Instead, they will be out to prove they’re better offensively than Liverpool. In doing so they’ll be opening the very door that hands them a loss.
Salah and Mane will gash Tottenham. They’ll be missing the play of Alli to unlock link up passes in the box. Liverpool could have a field day with this one if Spurs consistently cough it up in the final third with men pressed forward.
Because of the conditions at Wembley and with Tottenham absences, we’ll take Liverpool to win and the over 2.5 goals in a parlay with our top sportsbook BetOnline.
