Our World Cup Free Picks fell flat on their face yesterday. Mexico and Sweden didn’t play out exactly as expected with the Swedes picking up a 3-0 win over the Mexicans in a game we saw closer to drawing. Day three can be full of twists and turns.
When Wednesday was up, the Germans had been shown the door with an embarrassing loss to a South Korean squad. The Koreans were written off and given virtually no chance coming into this tournament. They now
That’s why we love the World Cup. From a betting perspective, it’s not the easiest thing ever to make money on, but it sure is fun to watch. Statistically speaking, it’s harder to predict what will happen with such a small sample size of three games to be played in each group. We also have an abundance of the World’s best talent on display.
This is why you can see upsets like Germany, the defending World Cup Champion in the middle of its prime, go out in the group stage. It’s also how you get paid on large odds much as we did with Iran in their first leg magic.
Today’s World Cup Free pick has its eyes on the Colombians taking on an upstart Senegal squad. The South American side are coming off of a big match 2 win against Poland 3-0. They seemed a completely different team from the one that showed up in leg 1 vs. the Japanese.
Cuadrado, James, and Falcao were joys to watch in fixture 2. Can the Colombians keep 11 men on the pitch in game 3?
This group has a lot of different scenarios that can impact the betting results. These scenarios are important, so pay attention to them. Situations within a tournament setting can make a difference between a won and a lost parlay ticket. Teams have different results that will be good enough for them to reach the next stage of a tournament or competition. In this case, both of our contestants have a very realistic chance at the knockout round coming out of World Cup Group play.
Colombia have secured three points after two fixtures in Group H play. The club that features Cuadrado, James Rodriguez, and Falcao will advance to the knockout round with a draw here, but only if Japan loses to an already eliminated Poland. This wrinkle complicates things. Colombia of course slipped up with a loss to Japan in leg 1 of this group. They went down a goal and to 10 men after just three minutes tragically in the opener. The player received death threats over the action. Pretty brutal.
Senegal are in a bit better position heading into this match, but they’re far from comfortably sitting in the knockout stage. The African side are made of pace and physicality and piloted by Liverpool man Sadio Mane. They will need a draw to advance here in a game where they are massive underdogs.
Las Vegas respects the public and is moving the spread accordingly to correlate with the heavy action.
When looking objectively at this one, we have to feel bad for the Colombians. They shouldn’t be worrying about their place in the last 16, but they are! After their leg 2 result, it’s clear that the unlucky actions of a nervous player cost them dearly in game 1. With a full 11, they would have surely beaten the Japanese. Heck, they almost beat them with 10.
One word comes to mind when discussing the Columbian’s game 2 victory, and that’s class. There is simply world class talent on this team. They’re horrifying when they’re playing at full strength and coming with speed from the wing. With Cuadrado and James rounding into form and Falcao showing his typical poacher self, this Columbian team is something to be feared.
Senegal have done an amazing job to compete in this tournament where no one really expected them to. That being said, they shouldn’t get out of this game with more than a point. Zero on the tally seems a lot more likely a result for the African nation.
The Colombians have brought a home field type of environment by bringing so many fans to Russia. The stadiums in Columbia’s opening two fixtures have been filled with yellow, blue, and red as their citizens have come to celebrate the game thousands of miles from their home continent. Such support will be difficult for Senegal in the final leg. They showcases a much smaller representation in the Senegal supporters section, though it certainly doesn’t lack in spirit.
Senegal Columbia Pick
Cuadrado makes the fans happy. He'll make bettors happy in the fixture with Senegal.
Senegal are a great squad, but they don’t look like they’ll be winners here. Columbia crushed in game 2 and has more to show in game 3. What’s more, Columbia can’t risk their fate by relying on the Japanese to squander their game. As a result, it’s all hands on deck and throttles to full speed for the South Americans. We see them netting early against Senegal and at that point, this becomes a track meet for Cuadrado to run circles around defenders. Colombia -135 looks a good bet and that line can still be had at MyBookie.

Senegal probably still go through here as the Japanese have been the most fortunate team in the tournament to date. Poland, while out, will cause havoc for the Japanese and Robert Lewandowski could easily net a brace before he departs back to Bayern Munich.
